As I sit with chronic stomach pain after recovering from 17 years of anorexia bulimia, I agree that talking about the after-effects is important - and rare. Hopefully though, realising that there's a high physical cost will encourage people to seek help sooner - rather than later - because realising the damage that I was doing to myself was one of the biggest motivations in my recovery; and has reminded me that I am never going back there. I have also looked at the physical costs of bulimia at findingmelissa.co.uk, so that might help if there are people out there who also suffered from bulimia.

Hi Isabel,

Thanks for writing. I would love it if you were to write a post on this subject. I'm also a writer (although a blocked writer until recently, having been sick and then busy being outdoors digging my way out) and would like to write about the whole issue of physical recovery after anorexia, hoping that eventually I can shed some light on my own stuff and maybe be of help to others.

I'd love to talk more with you about it too. I'm only just beginning to try and find other people to talk to about this.
thanks,
Ela
PS - Is there a way for me to respond to this via email?

Ela - Hi there Ela. Is it OK if I reply to this in the form of a post? I think it might be beneficial for anybody else checking out my blog for the content on anorexia.

Thank you so much for sharing your inspiring story. I was a hopeless anorexic for many years myself, and then in a sort of recovery as a strict fruitarian for another half-dozen years, and have finally this past two years eaten a more 'normal' diet, gained weight and approached some of the real underlying issues.

My question is about how your body felt when you started eating again. I had a lot of digestive problems even before I was anorexic, and now this past couple years as I continue to struggle with the whole care-of-body versus body image thing, I have also been suffering all kinds of digestive distress (finally getting a doctor to look at it after years of AMA) - looks like I have thyroid problems as well as gut problems.

I've been asking myself how my eating disorder might have contributed to this and looking for other people's experience. I'd love it if you could share yours.
Thanks,
Ela

Thanks for responding to my comment. I get how hard it is to deal with these issues just with normal life's pressing concerns, let alone depression on top of it.
I just want you to know that you've got a fan here who is eager to hear more as soon as you are able to get it out.
I'm also very sure I'm not the only one who loves your work and is cheering you on.

Hi Mary Laura - Yes I'm aware there might be issues and I haven't been adding episodes to the Podiobooks system for two months I think. This is mostly because of the debilitating nature of the depression, but also because I have major and very serious matters to deal with in the rest of my life, which are making it difficult to do anything other than the podcast I put together on Fridays. At the moment, I can't even write, and once I can't write Amnar, it's like being paraplegic. So until all of the current matters have been dealt with, I don't think any more updates are going to go anywhere. I'm sorry to let you down like this, but unfortunately, I can't do everything at the moment.

Hi!
I've been an avid follower of the Amnar podcast, following The Awakening whilst in progress, and now The Inheritance. I've been impressed by your improvement at reading your work, and at the depth and breadth of your story, as well as the incredible world building you've done.

I know you've had problems with your podcast postings, and that depression makes it awfully difficult to deal with snags that come up. I suffer from some depression myself, and I know how debilitating it can be!
So I am feeling bad about bringing up the issue of dysfunctional podcast entries.
About one third to one half of the Inheritance episodes are ending mid-sentence. Talk about cliffhangers!
I hate that I'm missing parts of your story. It's such a shame for your wonderful efforts to go unheard.
I noticed that the Podiobooks and iTunes feeds have not been updated to show your current progress.
Maybe we listeners could get the whole episodes if you could manage to get them onto those servers so we can bypass the feed on your site? Might this be an easier solution than trying to fix your feed?
I have no idea how it works, technically speaking, but I very much want to hear the whole story! I enjoy your work so much.
It's a great story, and I don't want to miss a minute of it.
